We are very excited to have you here at Temple City High School. We hope that you enjoy this wonderful new chapter in your life. As your counselors we are here to help make the transition to high school as smooth as possible. We look forward to meeting every one of you and will help you in any way that we can. Have a wonderful year.
What can I do in 9th grade to prepare for my future?
Build strong academics – study hard, build language, mathematics, and critical thinking skills by taking challenging courses for you
Start exploring career options – research career possibilities. A great way to do this is by using Naviance. Your counselors will help you set up your account and start a career exploration lesson with you.
Get involved in extracurricular activities – join clubs, sports or any other activities that interest you
Know Graduation and College Requirements – Review the curriculum guide to understand these requirements and plan for the appropriate courses. This information is available in the Course Planning Section of this website.
Develop a four year plan – Use the four-year planner to plan the appropriate courses for your post high school goals.
Meet your counselor – begin building a relationship with your counselor. You will have the same counselor all four years. They will help you with your post high school plans and may write you recommendations during your senior year. Do not wait until then to meet them. Refer to the home page for your counselor's contact information.
Start your service hours - You will need 100 hours of community service by the time you graduate. Get a start on these now. Refer to the Community Service Learning page under Resources to learn more about the requirements.
